How to check server latency

Step 1:
Open the Command Window, which allows you to use command line utilities. Click "Start" and select "Run." Type "cmd" in the box that pops up. Click "OK" or hit "Enter."
Step 2:
Type "ping" in the Command Window.
Step 3:
Hit the space bar once.
Step 4:
Type the server address that you want to ping, after the space. For example, if you want to ping pamela, type "pamela.gamemax.org" after the space.
Step 5:
Hit "Enter.", you will receive four to five replies back from the server that you pinged.
Step 6:
Analyze the information. The lower the round trip number in milliseconds, the better the latency. You will see an "Average = ???ms" at the end of the command, repeat the step for all our servers and pick the one with the LOWEST number(latency).
