How to check server latency
- Step 1:
- Open the Command Window, which allows you to use command line
utilities. Click "Start" and select "Run." Type "cmd" in the box that
pops up. Click "OK" or hit "Enter."
- Step 2:
- Type "ping" in the Command Window.
- Step 3:
- Hit the space bar once.
- Step 4:
- Type the server address that you want to ping, after the space. For
example, if you want to ping pamela, type "pamela.gamemax.org"
after the space.
- Step 5:
- Hit "Enter.", you will receive four to five replies back from the
server that you pinged.
- Step 6:
- Analyze the information. The lower the round trip number in
milliseconds, the better the latency. You will see an "Average = ???ms"
at the end of the command, repeat the step for all our servers and pick
the one with the LOWEST number(latency).
